Who can file a Form IMM 5444E?

Canada’s requirements for filing Form IMM 5444E are fairly simple. You must:

  • Be a permanent resident.
  • Be physically present in the country to fulfill Canada’s residency requirement. Canada’s residency obligation requires that you spend half of the last five years in the country to maintain permanent resident status.

What do I have to submit with Form IMM 5444E, and how much will it cost?

  • be the subject of a removal order,
  • be a Canadian citizen or be registered under the Indian Act, or
  • have a conviction for misusing a Canadian PR Card.

In most cases, you will submit your completed Form IMM 5444E and the indicated supporting documents. IMM 5644E is the Document Checklist for the Application for a Permanent Resident Card. The IRCC filing fee is $50 and can be paid online.
